Design has Always Mattered to Brand Expereince
GE's Plastics Concept House (aka Living Environments House) opened in Pittsfield, Massachusetts in 1989 to showcase innovative ideas for homes. The project at peak had more than 50 industrial designers. The 3,000 sq. ft. experimental home showcased innovations, such as: one of this first home automations systems, that ran everything from front door surveillance cameras to the lawn sprinklers; liquid crystal plastic windows that change from clear to opaque for privacy; smart toilets and showers, and a number of other design ideas to transform a homeowner's lives.
It's great to see that GE's move to a new headquarters in Boston. Once again GE is embracing the importance of design for it's businesses.
