Oktoberfest- Brand Faux Pas?

Recently, I asked someone if they were going to the local Oktoberfest this weekend. They were taken back, noting it's only September.

Yes, the Oktoberfest brand suggests October, but it's actually starts in September. And does it matter that I'm not going to Munich to observer it? No. Where there is beer, music and fun people, the Oktoberfest brand works for me. Here's where you can find an Oktoberfest near you:
