The Silence is Deafening

At the January 2019 World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, former Secretary of State John Kerry noted in a discussion with UN oceans envoy Peter Thomson and Rebecca Shaw, chief scientist for environmental group WWF, “Trump was guilty of “lies, not least over the Paris Climate Accord”.
This is really disturbing to me. A lot has been made out of how nations banded together in the Paris Climate Accord to help our planet. Yet, when President Trump walked out, he received the wrath of the media, politicians, many Americans, and most of the international community.
But hold on, what are these same people, politicians, and the media saying about China?
Virtually, they say nothing.
If one believes climate change is an extreme existential threat, then why do the same people who profess this threat; completely ignore speaking up about China’s role in polluting the world? It’s perplexing to say the least.

Don’t take my word about this silence. The next time you hear any politicians or the media evangelize about climate change and the peril the world is in for failing to address it, listen carefully to exactly what they say about China, or India for that matter.
The silence from them will be deafening. Their silence says it is fine that China pollutes, and continues to dramatically increase its pollution, particularly from coal emissions. Their silence says, they are complete hypocrites if they truly believe there is an eminent existential threat to the planet and saying nothing about China. Without China improving, anything the US and the rest of the world do to improve the planet, is a waste of time, effort, and money.
Next ask yourself this, why European and U.S. companies, who pioneered the solar industry, lost their dominance in only 15 years to China? Why have politicians just accepted China’s intellectual property theft as normal and do nothing about it too? Do these politicians hate that their own people have jobs? Do they not see supporting their own country’s businesses is a good thing? Again, I’m perplexed.

If Climate Change is such an impending threat, why would US and European leaders be so careless to let one key component to the future survival of our planet, solar energy, be stolen? Little of what I see and hear from Climate Change proponents makes sense to me if the goal is to save the planet. If the climate threat is real, it would demand all sources of pollution emissions to be dealt with immediately. And that’s just not happening. Why?
Equally troubling is the climate change peril is now being indoctrinated into young school kids as we saw the children who protested outside Senator’s Diane Feinstein office recently. These kids demanded immediate action to save the planet, but likely are clueless in how the world’s pollution is generated. As a father of five, it’s quite disturbing to see any educator rely on a partial world view, let alone use that view to generate fear in young kids. Shameful.
Frankly, I’m tired of letting the least informed continue to peddle their propaganda to make us worry over Climate Change while their behavior speaks otherwise. I couldn’t agree more than with the words of University of Tennessee law professor Glenn Reynolds, “I’ll believe it’s a crisis when the people who tell me it’s a crisis start acting like it’s a crisis”.
